Qi Gong course levels

The course is structured in levels that help participants build a strong practical foundation and gradually deepen their skills through a series of movement forms.

Each course is 10-12 weeks long and meets once a week. Participants progress through each level slowly, learning and mastering various movement forms. Each set of movements takes one course to learn, and will be reviewed in the following course.

Participants are encouraged to begin with the Level 1 Introduction to Qi Gong course and then continue through the levels together as a group. This shared progression creates a consistent and supportive learning experience for everyone.

LEVEL 1

Focuses on sensing and feeling Qi, slowing down, relaxing the body-mind, and developing embodied awareness through simple and slow movements.

Level 1 consists of 3 parts:

  • Introduction to Qi Gong & foundational practice

  • Lotus Qi Gong

  • 8 Brocades in standing and sitting forms

LEVEL 2

Building on the foundation established in Level 1, this level introduces more elaborate movement forms to deepen and strengthen practice. These movement sets promote fluid Qi circulation throughout the body while improving strength, flexibility, and mobility.

Participants continue to develop greater awareness of their bodies, movements, sensations, and mental states during practice. Through regular training, they learn to enter the Qi Gong State with increasing ease.

Level 2 consists of 4 sets of practice:

  • Tai Chi Rejuvenating Practice

  • 8 Forms of Dao-in Health Qi Gong

  • 13 Forms of Softening the Body

  • 18 Forms of Yi Jin Jing

LEVEL 3

Building on a strong foundation in the Qi Gong State and the cultivation of Qi, this level focuses on working with the body's subtle internal movements and their expressions in physical forms. Participants also continue learning more advanced movement forms that further refine their practice.

These forms help develop a body-mind that is not only deeply relaxed, but also clear, centred, and focused. Through continued practice, participants cultivate greater sensitivity, stability, and awareness in both movement and stillness.

Level 3 consists of 4 sets of practice:

  • Inner Strength One-Finger Meditation

  • Arhat 13 forms

  • Tai Chi Dao-In

  • Silk Practice

LEVEL 4

This level brings together the integration of inner Qi and external movement forms. Drawing on the experiential foundation developed in the previous levels, participants learn Tai Chi movement sequences that require greater coordination, continuity, and awareness.

Through practice, participants cultivate embodied memory, precision of movement, deep relaxation, and enhanced spatial awareness, further integrating mind, body, and Qi.

Level 4 consists of 3 sets of Tai Chi practice:

  • Tai Chi 6 forms - Six Hands Four Phenomena

  • Tai Chi 8 forms - Tsui Cheng Long

  • Tai Chi 8 forms - Wang Shi An
